All you need is whatever you are most likely to take your photographs with. This might be a mobile phone, or it might be the top of the range DSLR. We will discuss, demonstrate and practice how to use lighting to best serve your needs.
Portrait Photography is much more than a subject and a camera. It’s the emotion, it’s the art, and of course it’s occasionally technical. Come and learn how to take portraits using speed lights and using natural light.
This day long course begins at 9:30am, includes coffee and lunch, and ends at 4pm.
On this course we will be teaching the fundamentals of lighting; whether that is natural or added from speed lights, to create beautifully lit portraits. From head-shots to informal full-length portraits you will begin the day by hearing professional photographers explaining the secrets of their art, and giving “in-class” demonstrations. As the day progresses there will be inside and outside opportunities to photograph others, including a professional model.

Please be aware of the weather, as we will (unless it really doesn’t allow us!) be conducting some photography outside; so if we are middle of summer or middle of winter, please bring appropriate clothing. Some reasonably sturdy shoes will be important too.
It depends on the course. We will look to fill up to 20 places, but we always work to an instructor/student ratio of 1:8 or less, for the practical sessions.
We need to make sure we have a viable amount of people coming. You will be informed in good time if this is the case. You will receive a credit for another course, or a full refund if you’d prefer.
