The coastal city is perhaps best known for the rise of Lech Walesa’s “Solidarity” movement that was the catalyst for the collapse of communism throughout Eastern Europe.
The history there is still palpable and very exciting. What is not so well known is that Gdansk was the location for the start of the Second World War as the German Army’s first entry point as they invaded Poland. Even less well known is that Gdansk is BEAUTIFUL! The workshop we run here is designed to improve photographic techniques while exploring the city and its history. We also incorporate a fashion day with models and Make-up artist to show techniques for portraiture inside and amongst the sites outside.
The programme is based from our stylish and modern apartments just south of the River, right in the heart of the city. All shoot locations are an easy walk from here, and the aim is to explore, experiment and learn.
- Check-in – Riverside Apartments
- Camera basics refresher briefing (for those who need it!), then a short tour of the city to get bearings
- Composition chat
- Visit Shipyards and museum
- River Boat tour to site of start of WWII
- Off camera flash and studio lighting
- Visit Sopot by train
Day Four, the fashion day
- Individual skills refresher
- Fashion Shoot, including model, dress designer, and make-up artist
- Free Time and Departure
We will again be staying in apartments at the beautiful Szafarnia complex. The Luxurious 12m sq apartments each have three great size bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. One with a shower and one with a beautiful relaxing tub. It also has a kitchen, dining room and living room. The spacious living room has a large flat screen TV, a fire place and a large balcony overlooking the courtyard.
This is a great way to stay in style, but best of all, the apartments make great studios. We will have lighting and modifiers for our indoor shoots, and lots of time to practice and improve techniques before the fashion shoot
All meals will be taken locally in the pubs and restaurants close-by.
